Is it possible to expand over 100TB for FlexVol?

Answer

  • If ONTAP is 9.12.1P1 or earlier, it is not possible to expand the FlexVol over 100TB.
  • If ONTAP is 9.12.1P2 or later, it is possible to expand FlexVol over 100TB, however, it needs to enable -is-large-size-enabled option using the volume modify command.  (If the volume is a destination for SnapMirror relationship, the source also has to be on 9.12.1P2 or later)

Note: Expansion of the volume size is also dependent on the hardware platform. Not all models with OS version 9.12.1 or later can be expanded beyond 100 TB. Refer to the NetApp Hardware Universe for more information.
