  • Renaming a NetApp ONTAP aggregate (local tier) is a non-intrusive, cosmetic operation.
  • The aggregate name is only used for identification purposes in management interfaces. 
  • ONTAP internally uses UUIDs (Universally Unique Identifiers) to manage aggregates and their data.
  • Changing the name does not affect data access, aggregate functionality, or cluster operations.
