Description

This article describes how to add new disks to existing aggregates to increase storage capacity for its associated volumes.

Notes:
  1. All operation requires CLI. Please avoid using the ONTAP System Manager GUI, as it tends to prioritize selecting already partitioned spare disks, which may not be desirable.
  2. Read About this task of CLI tab on Add capacity to a local tier (add disks to an aggregate) before the operation.
  3. Useful commands:
    1. ::> run -node * -c sysconfig -r
      command can help you to confirm the assigned disks, partitions, and current aggregate configuration.
    2. ::> storage disk show -partition-ownership
       command can assist you in determining the ownership of disks and partitions.
