Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • Logical Interface (LIF)
  • Batch upgrades for large clusters (8 nodes or more)
  • Automated Non-disruptive Upgrade (ANDU)

Issue

  • During ANDU, the data LIF migration fails as the other batch does not have ports configured for the necessary broadcast domains.
  • This causes the upgrade process to pause.

EMS logs:

Sun Jan 01 12:00:00 +0100 [Node-01: upgrademgr: upgrademgr.update.pausedErr:error]: The automated update of the cluster has been paused due to the following reason: Node "Node-02": Error: {Failed to migrate data LIFs from node "Node-01".}, Action: {Migrate each of the data LIFs using the "network interface migrate -vserver -lif -dest-node Node-02" command.}.
