Issue

ONTAP uses Cluster Session Manager (CSM) communication channels to exchange information between nodes in a cluster.

The following issues are seen:

  • Connection failure
  • Application triggering
  • Long idleness

CSM session failures that result from application triggers or long idle sessions pose no risk to the system.
In contrast, connection-related failures should be investigated, and may represent a larger whole issue.

As all three scenarios are presented as csm.sessionFailed:warnings, we must investigate to determine the root cause of the warning.
