Issue

  • System intermittently reports following type of warning
HA Group Notification (Health Monitor process cshm: ClusterIfIslDownWarn_Alert[XXXXXXXXXXX/ Link Aggregate 1]) ALERT
  • An error for the ports making up the Link Aggregate is displayed in the output of system health alert show
Cluster::> system health alert show

Node: Node-01
Resource: Link Aggregate 1
Severity: Major
Indication Time: Wed Aug 17 05:41:50 2022
Suppress: false
Acknowledge: false
Probable Cause: The cable used to connect switch "Switch01/
Link Aggregate 1" to the ISL port might be faulty.
For the port-channel, please check each individual link.
Possible Effect: Cluster redundancy might be lost.
Corrective Actions:
1) Check whether the cable is fully inserted into the interface port on both ends.
2) Reconnect the ISL port using another cable. After
reconnecting it, verify whether the link of the ISL
port is up by executing the commands per the switch
configuration guide or by checking whether the Link
status LED is on.

  • The ports effected are 0/13 - 0/16, which are the Inter-Switch Links (ISL) between the cluster network switches
  • The output of show port all on the switch confirms that the ports are all physically down
