Issue

After upgrading to or deploying ONTAP 9.18.x, new data volumes created through ONTAP System Manager with CIFS share provisioning enabled in the same wizard may be created with UNIX security style instead of NTFS, even when the SVM root volume uses UNIX security style.
On ONTAP 9.17.x, the same workflow typically creates the new volume with NTFS security style, which is appropriate for CIFS access.
When a volume is created with UNIX security style but used for CIFS, users may be unable to write to the share from Windows clients until the volume security style is changed.
System Manager does not provide an option to select security style during volume creation.
This behaviour is observed when volume creation and CIFS share provisioning are done together in the System Manager wizard. Creating a volume without CIFS share provisioning in the same wizard follows root-volume inheritance and creates a UNIX volume on both ONTAP 9.17 and 9.18.
Affected: ONTAP 9.18.x when using System Manager to create a volume with CIFS share provisioning
Not affected: Same workflow on ONTAP 9.17.x where NTFS is provisioned as expected
