CONTAP-70710: EMS messages might not be delivered with the default network service policies

Issue

  • If you upgrade from an ONTAP release earlier than 9.8 to ONTAP 9.8 or later, the Event Management System (EMS) LIF service "management-ems" is added to all existing service policies in admin and system SVMs, such as: default-management, default-intercluster, and default-route-announce.
  • With this configuration, EMS messages can be sent from any of the LIFs associated with these service policies. It might prevent some EMS messages from reaching the intended destination if the selected LIF does not have network reachability to the destination.
  • On a new deployment with ONTAP releases 9.8 or later, the EMS LIF service is only associated with the default-management service policy and this problem is unlikely to be observed.
