Issue

During a ONTAP hardware controller replacement a console connection might be required for executing multiple commands on the replaced controller.  Examples of these commands include:

  • For ONTAP prior to 9.8 or clusters without NTP configured, the date/time will need to be set at the LOADER.
  • For controllers which define the System ID (sysid) the following prompt will need a response:

WARNING: System ID mismatch. This usually occurs when replacing a boot device or NVRAM cards!
Override system ID? \{y|n}
  • On AFF A900, AFF A700, FAS9500, FAS9000 platforms that do not use the presets.haosc loader variable will require the HA personality to be set in maintenance mode.
  • On the AFF A700s platform, the nicadmin command in maintenance mode will need to be executed if the onboard 40GbE NIC ports are used in breakout mode.
  • On the FAS2720, FAS2750, AFF A220, AFF A150, AFF C190, FAS8200, and AFF A300 platforms the UTA configuration might need to be configured in maintenance mode.
  • For single node cluster or two-node MetroCluster configurations, manual disk reassignment will need to be performed in maintenance mode.
  • When NSE drives are locked or node root volumes are encrypted the onboard key manager server configuration or external key manager server configuration will need to be restored.
