In ONTAP with the fix for CONTAP-230184: Improved HA handling when a T6 card reports a fatal error - NetApp Knowledge Base, ONTAP will perform an automated takeover of the affected node and reboot it to recover the NIC (from the Applies To section).  This card/adapter is often referred to as a T6 card.
