Issue

  • An ONTAP node without fix panics from nodewatchdog after a process like mgwd or secd (or others) became unresponsive due to BSD memory exhaustion.
    RPANIC:Process secd unresponsive for 210 seconds in process nodewatchdog on release 9.16.1P5 (C)
    RPANIC:Process mgwd unresponsive for 210 seconds (mgwd startup: "(3613)") in process nodewatchdog on release 9.16.1P3 (C)


  • The sktrace log shows repetitively before the panic:
    2025-12-17T23:19:48Z 27547705099087737 [16:0] GFC_FC: gfc_vm_lowmem_start_flowcontrol: Ignored low FreeBSD memory gfc trigger due to low mbuf memory usage


  • An Intel E810 NIC like X60134A is in use
    ::> node run -node * -command sysconfig -ac
    sysconfig: slot 2 OK: X60134A: 2p, 100G Ethernet Controller E810
