CONTAP-216784: X50131A Ethernet port will not link up via 40/100G copper cables when connected to Cisco 400GbE switch

Issue

  • When using 40GBASE-CR4 or 100GBASE-CR4 copper cables to connect an X50131A QSFP56 NIC port to a Cisco Nexus C9316D-GX 400GbE switch, the link might not come up. 
  • The switch port speed is set to "auto" (autonegotiation is enabled)
