Issue

The first access to a rebalanced Granular Data file within a FlexGroup may fail following an upgrade from ONTAP 9.14.1 or 9.15.1 to an affected release of ONTAP 9.18.1 or 9.19.1 that does not contain the fix for this defect. In such cases, the file may become inaccessible.
Internally, WAFL maintains an invalidation timestamp for Granular Data files to ensure accurate tracking of file attributes. Under rare conditions that are not yet fully understood, ONTAP 9.14.1 and 9.15.1 can leave an invalid zero-value invalidation timestamp associated with a Granular Data file. After upgrading to an affected release, this invalid timestamp is interpreted as file corruption, resulting in an access failure when the file is first referenced.
