Issue

  • Nodes running ONTAP 9.16.1P14 can experience panics with a Panic message similar to:
PANIC:prod/common/wafl/multipart/multipart_attributes.cc:2601: Assertion failure. in SK process wafl_exempt02 on {color}{color:#000000}release9.16.1P14 (C)

  • The FlexGroup engineering team uses a configuration setting for internal debugging and improvements which causes the node to panic. * This configuration should not be enabled by default in production environments, but due to an error in fix propagation specifically in 9.16.1P14 this option is enabled by default.

Exposure Conditions:
  • Anyone on 9.16.1 P14 that has Granular Data enabled (basic or advanced) on a FlexGroup and interacts with multipart files. No other ONTAP releases are impacted.
