CONTAP-601413: Fails to convert NVE volumes to NAE when SVM key manager is configured

Issue

  • Attempts to convert an MDV_CRS volume from NVE to NAE using volume move fail.   

::*> volume move start -vserver vservername -volume MDV_CRS_xxxxxxx_A -destination-aggregate aggr1 -encrypt-with-aggr-key true
   Warning: You are about to modify the system volume "MDV_CRS_xxxxxxx_A". This might cause severe performance or stability problems. Do not proceed unless directed to do so by support. Do you want to  proceed? {y|n}: y
   Error: command failed: Changing encryption type from NVE (NetApp Volume Encryption) volume to NAE (NetApp Aggregate Encryption) volume for volume "MDV_CRS_xxxxxxx_A" is not supported using volume move because Vserver "vservername" has multitenant key manager configured.

  • The system blocks NAE volume creation or conversion when an SVM has a key manager configured.
