Issue

Under rare conditions, during the 1st read operation of a specific block from the data hosted on NVME namespace or NetApp FCP or iSCSI LUN from platforms A1K, A70 and A90, ONTAP might deliver wrong user-data.

Signature examples:
  • Windows crashes with BSOD 0x0000001a (page-in CRC violation)
  • Oracle alertlog reports a sequence similar to:
    • Corrupt block relative dba: 0x0000c4cd (file 42, block 50381)
    • Reread (file 42, block 50381) found valid data
    • Repaired corruption at (file 42, block 50381)
A subsequent read to the same logical block address should succeed with no errors reported. This issue is applicable to both AFF and ASA variants of the above mentioned platforms running 9.15.1 and above. Systems running 9.16.1RC and above are not impacted due to this issue.
