What is the MetroCluster IP switchback procedure?

  • ONTAP 9
  • MetroCluster IP (MCC-IP)

Answer

  1. Forced or negotiated switchover must have successfully completed.
  2. Power on the controllers at the disaster site.
  3. If using ONTAP 9.6 or later, verify that automatic healing is completed successfully:
cluster::> metrocluster operation history show
  1. If auto-healing is not completed, perform aggregate healing manually:
cluster::> metrocluster heal aggregates
cluster::> metrocluster heal root-aggregates
  1. Data aggregate resynchronization must complete. Check the status:

cluster::> storage aggregate plex show

Note: It can take a few hours or days for this to complete.

  1. Verify that the controller is ready for a switchback:

cluster::> metrocluster switchback -simulate

  1. Perform switchback:

cluster::> metrocluster switchback
