Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • Asynchronous SnapMirror only

Answer

The minimum supported asynchronous SnapMirror intervals (i.e. minimum supported RPO) depend on the type of relationship and volume in-use:

SnapMirror Configuration Minimum supported RPO
FlexVol volumes 5 minutes
FlexGroup volumes 30 minutes
SVM DR for FlexVol volumes 15 minutes
SVM DR for FlexGroup volumes 30 minutes
Consistency Groups (ONTAP 9.13.1 and later) 30 minutes
S3 SnapMirror 0 seconds*

Note: Scheduled updates may be skipped when the configured schedule does not meet the given minimum RPO requirement

*S3 SnapMirror
  • Zero RPO is not guaranteed with S3 SnapMirror
  • Objects changes are still replicated asynchronously and will take some non-zero time to be replicated and written to the destination object-store/bucket even with -rpo set to 0 in the SnapMirror policy
