SnapMirror relationships report a Preparing relationship status

Issue

  • An XDP SnapMirror or SVM DR transfer takes much longer than expected
  • It appears as if transfers are very slow, with low amount of data sent to the destination
  • snapmirror show  or ActiveIQ System Manager reports a Relationship Status of  "Preparing" for a significant amount of time

  • Both volume and SVMDR relationships can experience long periods of Preparing status after snapmirror resync
  • The Preparing operation may run longer and appear to transfer more data than a typical update operation
  • When using SRM/SRA, a "reprotect" operation during VMware site recovery or during site recovery testing takes extended time or times out
