Answer

  • If a NDMP backup is created as "restartable" by the backup application a "context" is created to keep track of the progress
  • Only a specific amount of this context can be kept in ONTAP NDMP
  • When the backup job is finished the backup application will delete the context and the parameter is set to true until the context is deleted
  • If a "restartable" backup job fails,  the context is not deleted and the parameter is set to false
