Rubrik Backups Failing Due to ONTAPI Suspension

Applies to

  • NetApp ONTAP 9.14.1 and later
  • Rubrik Security Cloud (NAS backups via SMB or NFS)
  • NetApp FAS, AFF, ONTAP Select platforms

Issue

  • Rubrik NAS backup jobs fail on NetApp clusters running ONTAP 9.14.1 or later.
  • The failure occurs during the CREATE_FILESET_SNAPSHOT job.
  • Rubrik and ONTAP logs show the following error:
Rubrik Job Error:
Failed to invoke API system-get-version; reason: ONTAPI has been proactively suspended on this cluster due to inactivity as this feature is deprecated. Use the "system services web ontapi modify" CLI command to un-suspend ONTAPI.; errno:61253
ErrorNumber:-5
