Description

  • This article describes how to safely remove an interface group (ifgrp) that hosts active data logical interfaces (LIFs) without causing network disruption.
  • Observed situation
    • An interface group contains one active port and one inactive port.
    • Data LIFs are currently hosted on the interface group.
    • Several physical Ethernet ports are not cabled and remain link down.
  • Risk
    • Removing an interface group that still hosts data LIFs causes immediate network outage.
  • Resolution
    • Move all data LIFs from the interface group to an active physical port.
    • Remove the interface group after LIF migration.
    • Disable unused Ethernet ports.
