Answer

  • No, the source volume and destination volume can have different encryption settings.
    • Source and destination volumes can be a mixture of NVE, NAE, or plaintext volumes.
    • Reverse Resync should work for volumes with mixed encryption.
  • When the source and destination volumes reside on different clusters, each cluster uses its own encryption configuration.
    • The passphrases can be different because the encryption passphrase is cluster-independent.
