  • Per Cisco documentation, updating the EPLD and FPGA firmware is not required, but it is highly recommended
  • NetApp switch documentation for ONTAP includes instructions to download and install the latest EPLD image as part of any NX-OS version upgrade
    • In this upgrade procedure, the switch is rebooted as part of the NX-OS and EPLD upgrade
