Answer

  • Gen7 Brocade switches running FOS 9.2.x require Gen5 switches to run FOS 8.2.3x or later for ISL interoperability
  • Maximum ISL speed is limited by the 6505 (16 Gb/s), and both ends must use compatible 16 Gb SFPs

Additional Information

  • Gen5 switches running FOS 8.2.3x cannot be in the same Layer 2 fabric as Gen7 running FOS 10.x
  • To connect, use Fibre Channel Routing (FCR) or Access Gateway (AG) mode
