Does Removing Standby Paths Cause Disruption on a Brocade Switch?
Applies to
- Brocade switches
- FC Protocol
Answer
- As long as all connected ports are correctly zoned, the failover will occur seamlessly during a path removal.
|
WARNING Ensure that zoning is configured on each switch and MPIO is properly set up on the host end before removing the standby ports. |
Additional Information
- If a host cluster is connected to two switches, with each host having two connections to each switch (one optimized, one unoptimized), removing connections in a multipathing storage setup will cause traffic to switch to the standby connection if an active connection is removed.
- Removing a port from each node won’t cause downtime if redundant paths are present and should prevent downtime.
- However, latency issues might occur if the optimized path is removed.
