Answer

  • Broadcom acquired Brocade in November 2017, all Brocade switch's manufactured before November 2017 are supported by Broadcom.
  • Broadcom support will request a diagnostic bundle called a supportsave with every support case.
  • NETAPP support will request a supportshow with every support case.
  • Supportshow is a human readable text dump of switch data.
  • Supportsave is a comprehensive collection of text and binary files compressed into a single file.
  • When you decompress a supportsave inside are 3 text files that hold the data contained in a supportshow.

Filename SSHOW_EX.TXT.GZ

errdump

Filename SSHOW_SYS.TXT.GZ. Important there are 2 files with this same name in the supportshow. Only one of them will have these relevant sections.

switchshow
porterrshow
sensorshow
tempshow
fanshow
psshow
portcfgshow
sfpshow
chassisshow
configshow
zoneshow
aliasshow
licenseshow

Filename  SSHOW_PORT.TXT.GZ

portshow

To find the switch serial number you look in the end of the chassisshow output for this string Chassis Factory Serial Num: XXXXXXXXXXX.

Additional Information

NETAPP support will request a supportshow for the initial triage and troubleshooting, then request a supportsave when opening a case with Broadcom.
