BMC/IPMI IP is unreachable due to faulty port

  • NetApp H-series
  • NetApp Element software
  • Baseboard Management Controller (BMC)
  • Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI)

Issue

  • Unable to reach BMC/IPMI IP address
  • Tried the following and still not able to ping the IP.
  • Reseat or change the cables and ensure the links are active.
  • Connect a Laptop direclty to the IPMI port  and check the port configuration by accessing the BIOS.
  • Perform a power drain for the node.
