Issue

  • Within E-Series support bundle or AutoSupport, the major-event-log reports FC port constantly flapping. Similarly, these events may be found in SANtricity System Manager under Support > Events.
Extended Fibre Channel link down (greater than one minute) - Host-side: controller in bay A, port 5
Fibre channel link down - Host-side: controller in bay A, port 5
Fibre channel link up - Host-side: controller in bay A, port 5
  • Within E-Series support bundle or AutoSupport, the fcDump command output in the state-capture-data file may show a high amount of bad characters:

    • The I/O operation was retried at logical block address 0x31a3e5908 on disk 15
    • NetApp E-Series Device Specific Module for Multi-Path failed to return a Path to Device\MPIODisk10
  • E-Series storage array may also report volume not on preferred path (VNOPP) in MAJOR-EVENT-LOG and RECOVERY-GURU-PROCEDURES:
