E-Series to ONTAP VM Migration Shows Low Throughput

Issue

  • During virtual machine (VM) migration activities from E-Series  datastores to ONTAP ASA datastores, significantly lower throughput and higher latency was observed.
  • However, when compared to migration operations performed in the reverse direction (ONTAP ASA → E-Series) or between E-Series systems it had better performance.
  • MAJOR-EVENT-LOG (MEL) shows Slow drive detected by drive performance analyzer or other drive check conditions:
