E-Series drives in incompatible state after drawer replacement or controller headswap

Issue

  • After replacing a drawer in the E-Series storage array, the drives in replacement drawer appear in incompatible offline state. This can be confirmed in SANtricity System Manager hardware section and vdmShowDriveList output in EOS shell or state-capture-data file within a support bundle.

  • Additionally following controller headswap (i.e Single controller replacement in simplex system), drives in DCM3 based drawer or IOM12C backed expansion shelf appear in incompatible offline state.
