Issue

  • Persistent Volume not on preferred path (VNOPP) events after volume redistribution
  • RECOVERY-GURU-PROCEDURES.HTML:

  • MAJOR-EVENT-LOG:

4011 Volume not on preferred path due to AVT/RDAC failover - Shelf XX, Bay X <--CRITICAL
2044 IO shipping implicit volume transfer - Volume VOLNAME - Shipped/Owned IOs: 226026/71683, Host ID: XX

  • Issue observed after SANtricity upgrade
  • Host-side logs and logs show >75% I/O routed to the alternate controller for affected volumes
  • No controller hardware failures, resets, or explicit multipath driver errors detected
  • Affected volumes are mapped to clustered hosts with multiple host types (Linux DM-MP, ATTO Cluster, Windows)
