E-Series Host Settings Recreation Results in VMware Datastore Inaccessibility

Issue

  • Following the deletion and recreation of host settings on the NetApp E-Series system, VMware ESXi hosts continued to detect the underlying LUN. However, the associated datastore became inaccessible and displayed an "Error, Unknown" status.  As a result, access to the datastore was lost and the affected virtual machines were unable to start.
