Answer

  • No, the Targets are not Read-Only (RO) after the copy colume operation.
  • They become Read/Write (RW) as soon as the operation completes.

Note

  • If it’s an Offline Copy, both the source and target remain read-only throughout the entire copy process.
  • If it’s an Online Copy, both remain accessible during the operation.
  • Windows in a clustered environment (Windows Server Failover Clustering or WSFC) may enforce RO status even if the storage array reports RW. For more details, refer to Managing Hardware Snapshots on Failover Clusters
