E-Series IOM (ESM) temporary fails and returns to optimal in short time

StorageGRID appliances SG5800, SG6160 (having E-Series E4000 storage controller)

Issue

  • Following events are reported then resolved shortly
    • Controller shelf component failed
    • Temperature sensor removed
    • An IOM (ESM) has reported an exception event
  • STORAGE-ARRAY-PROFILE > SHELVES indicates:
    •  IOM status temporary changes to Failed then shortly returns to Optimal
    • 2 IOMs, one with the storage controller serial number, and the other with the compute controller serial number
