E-Series reporting degraded drive channel on multiple drives due to faulty drives

Issue

  • E-Series SANtricity System Manager or Storage Manager's indicates array is in needs attention state with one or more of the following entries in the recovery guru:
    • Individual Drive - Degraded Path
    • Controller Drive Channel Degraded
    • DEGRADED_DRIVE_CHANNEL-Recovery Failure Type Code: 71
    • DEGRADED_DRIVE_PATH-Recovery Failure Type Code: 76
    • NO_REDUNDANCY_DRIVE-Recovery Failure Type Code: 32
  • Major event log reports one or more of the following:
    • Drive path redundancy lost - Tray 99, Drawer X, Slot X
    • Fibre Channel Destination Error - Redundant Path is not available to Device
  • These steps can also be applied for Failure Entry 1: BYPASSED_DRIVE-Recovery Failure Type Code: 64

Ensure you have tried the following before you move to the next section 

  1. Reseat the effected drive, if the issue still persists move to next step
  2. Manually fail the drive that is reporting the issue, reference: Diagnosing an impending drive failure
