SCV Discovery of SAN datastores fails after upgrading the plugin

Issue

After the upgrade, the discovery for some or all of the VMFS LUN based datastores fails during the backup with the following error:
 
Unable to discover resources on SCV: Unable to get storage details for datastore <DS_NAME> with managed object reference datastore-<DS_ID>. Storage system(s) may need to be added, also ensure that the associated host is in a connected state.
 
Note: adding a new datastore VMFS LUN using Virtual Storage Console, does not show the same problem.
