Unified Manager triggers failed protection job notification after pairing with WFA, with error: "PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target"

Issue

After having successfully paired Unified Manager with an OnCommand Workflow Automation (WFA) server, an email alert is received indicating a protection job failed. When clicking on the event link in the received email and viewing the event landing page, the following error is reported:

PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to
requested target; nested exception is javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: PKIX path building failed:
sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target.
