StorageGRID reports cassandra repair errors after node expansion

Issue

After node expansion, Support > Metrics > Cassandra Network Overview > Reaper Segment State View shows a sharp increase in storagegrid:FAILED count:

/var/local/log/cassandra-reaper.log will contain repeated entries of:
 
 "Updating the seed list for cluster storagegrid as topology changed since the last repair"
 
spreaper list-runs will report: "last_event": "Aborted based on topology changes",
