Uneven storage usage between StorageGRID sites

Issue

  • A grid has 3 sites: site A, site B and site C.
  • Per ILM settings, objects less or equal to 2 MB will be stored one copy at site A and site B each.
  • Other objects will be stored across 3 sites using EC 4+2 scheme.
  • Uneven storage usage is seen between site A and site B:
    • site A: 2 PB
    • site B: 1 PB
  • The main difference is size of replicated data:
    • site A: 1.4 PB
    • site B: 600 GB
