Description

The EC clean up tool is designed to remove/purge unneeded data from Storage Nodes. This procedure has been tested by NetApp and is safe to implement on production systems.  No data is at risk and no software error has occurred.  Only data deemed as unneeded is flagged.  Unneeded EC data can occur when data marked to be deleted (already triggered by a client side delete) is not fully removed from disk from the Storage Node.
