Description

This article explains how to switch roles of a Primary Admin node with an existing Secondary Admin Node. This procedure is commonly used when wanting to move a Primary Admin Node to another site.

The tool has the following high level steps.

  1. Executed on the Primary Admin node. Runs a series of provisioning tasks that moves the CMN from the current Primary Admin to the target Admin Node, stops Primary Admin node services.
  2.  Shuts down the Secondary Admin node and recovers it as a Primary Admin node.
  3. Once the new Primary Admin node is up and functioning, the tool will proceed to put the old Primary Admin node into recovery mode and then recover it as a Secondary Admin node.

Requirement: A Secondary Admin Node needs to already exist at the site for which the Primary Admin node is expected to be moved to prior to implementing this procedure. This procedure does not work if there is only 1 admin node in a grid, by default, a primary admin node.

If there is no Admin Node at the site where the move is expected to be, an expansion of a secondary admin node is needed prior to running this procedure.
