Applies to

  • SnapCenter Plug-in for VMware vSphere (SCV)
  • VMware vCenter Server

Answer

  • Before Upgrade:
    • Ensure that your target upgrade version of vCenter is compatible with your current SCV version with Interoperability Matrix Tool
    • If the current SCV version is not compatible with the target upgrade version of vCenter, upgrade SCV to a compatible version after upgrading vCenter
  • After Upgrade:

By following the steps in How to un-register / re-register SCV Plug-in to vCenter, reregister SCV Plug-in to vCenter

Notes:

  • As written in Reregister Plug-In Solution in vCenter Server After Upgrade or Migration, plug-in solutions need to be reregistered after the upgrade of vCenter
  • SCV Plug-in might be invisible on vSphere client or might not work as expected until the reregistration is done
  • Unregister is fine even before upgrading vCenter.
  • In general, this operation is not required when applying a patch (e.g., from vCenter 7.0u3a to 7.0u3b), but it may be necessary depending on the modifications made on the vCenter side
