Startup of SCV virtual appliance gets stuck after restarting ESXi

Issue

  • After restarting ESXi, SCV virtual appliance startup gets stuck with message:
Booting SnapCenter Plug-in for VMware vSphere virtual appliance... Please wait...
  • Upon pressing Alt+F2, the console displays messages:

[  OK  ] Reached target Local File Systems.
         Starting Create Volatile Files and Directories...
         Starting Preprocess NFS configuration...
         Starting netfiIter persistent configuration.
[  OK  ] Started Preprocess NFS configuration.
[  OK  ] Reached target NFS client services.
[  OK  ] Started Create Volatile Files and Directories.
         Starting RPC bind portmap service...
         Starting Update UTMP about System Boot/Shutdown...
[  OK  ] Started Update UTMP about Systen Boot/Shutdown.
         Starting Update UTMP about System Runlevel Changes...
[  OK  ] Started Update UTMP about System Runlevel Changes.
[  OK  ] Started RPC bind portnap service.
[  OK  ] Reached target Remote File Systems (Pre).
[  OK  ] Reached target Remote Fi le Systems.
[  OK  ] Reached target RPC Port Mapper.
[  OK  ] Started netfiIter persistent configuration.
[  OK  ] Reached target Network (Pre).
         Starting Raise network interfaces...
[  OK  ] Started Raise network interfaces.
[  OK  ] Reached target Network.
[  OK  ] Reached target Network is Online.
You are in emergency mode. After logging in, type "journalctl -xb" to view
system logs, "systemctl reboot" to reboot, "systemctl default" or "exit"
to boot into default mode.

Cannot open access to console, the root account is locked.
