SCO backup with OS-authenticated non-root user fails discovery process

Issue

  • SCO does not recognize or allow a non-root user with OS authentication to perform offline backups
  • This may occur even though a non-root user can log into the database through SQL*Plus using / as sysdba
  • Exception error may exists in SPL, SMCore, SnapDriveSALDebug or /SnapCenter PowerShell/SmPSSnapIn.logs:
    ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
  • Additional errors observed in logs:
    • ERROR SMCore PID=[3556] TID=[27] StartStorageSavingsSchedule failed : Object reference not set to an instance of an object
    • PL-SCO-20036: Discovery of database instance GRD failed with error: Operation Exception occured during oracle databaseconnection, reason: Unexpected Operation occured.
