SCO Cloning RAC Database fails with partial AFD disk groups

Applies to

  • SnapCenter Plug-in for Oracle (SCO) 4.5 and higher (AIX, Linux)
  • Using LUN devices in ONTAP accessed directly by the Oracle Linux/AIX Host (no VMDKs)

Issue

When attemting to clone an Oracle Database that has AFD enabled with ASM,it fails with:

Error java.util.concurrent.ExecutionException:com.netapp.oracle.core.common.OracleException:ORACLE-10003: Error executing SQL "ALTER DISKGROUP RECO_SCO_44904 MOUNT" against Oracle database+ASM: ORA-15032: not all alterations performed
ORA-15017: diskgroup "<ORIYGINAL_DG_NAME>_SCO_<JOB_ID>" cannot be mounted
ORA-15040: diskgroup is incomplete

You may also get the following, while working on ASM_DISKSTRING:

ORACLE-00800: Error executing asmcmd command export LC_ALL=C; export ORACLE_BASE=<DIR>; asmcmd afd_lslbl.  The command returned: [Invalid discovery string : 'AFD:*,/dev/mapper/*']
