Exchange transaction logs aren't truncated after a successful SCE backup

Applies to

  • SnapCenter Server 4.1, 4.2
  • SnapCenter Plug-In for Microsoft Exchange Server (SCE) 4.1, 4.2

Issue

  • Stale logs are observed by browsing the transaction logs area through Windows Explorer.
  • After a successful SCE backup, exchange transaction logs truncation doesn't occur.
  • Windows Application Event Log reports the following errors.

Event 2038 - MSExchangeRepl
Microsoft Exchange VSS Writer backup failed. No log files were truncated. Instance xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx. Database xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx.
 
Event 2034 - MSExchangeRepl
The Microsoft Exchange Replication service VSS Writer (Instance xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx) failed with error FFFFFFFC when processing the backup completion event.
