Answer

  • VSS and the Navssprv  is not used in any part of the SCSQL backup process.
  • It uses native SQL commands to create the backup and then uses VDI (Virtual device interface) for communication between the SCSQL plug-in and SQL.
  • The Navssprv is not installed on the SQL server during the plug-in installation.
