Can I backup system DBs in an AG Backup?

Answer

  • System dbs (master, model, tempdb, etc.) do not appear in the Availability Group (AG) databases on the Resources tab when selecting Availability Groups from the drop down.
  • In order to back up system dbs, they must be on NetApp Storage and must be backed up either by adding them to a Resource Group or directly from the Databases drop down in the Resources tab.
