Issue

  • During a VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) reprotect operation for, the reverse replication and prepare reverse replication steps complete successfully, but the operation failed during device discovery.

Error - Cannot protect virtual machine because its config file is located on a non-replicated or non-protected datastore. The operation was only partially completed for the protection group since a protected VM belonging to it was not successful in completing the operation.

  • The new SnapMirror relationship is marked as healthy and transferring; however, the new source cluster does not report the volume as a source relationship when SRM queries it.
  • As a result, SRM can not identify a valid source-destination pair and the reprotect operation fails.
